MAINTENANCE

Materials Management
Materials Management is known as the heart of the hospital because it provides the supplies needed by every other department, with the client or patient the eventual consumer of services. In this department, Housekeeping plays a crucial role in Infection Control by providing high quality sanitary living/working conditions. The Central Supplies and Receiving is responsible for sterilizing equipment used for the treatment of patients throughout the hospital, and by the doctors in their clinical practice. The staff in this department have current knowledge of Infection Control and are mandated to follow Canadian standards.

Environmental Services
This department is made up of skilled trades people. They work hard to maintain the building year round. As the EGH‘Complex’ grows and develops, staff continuously seek the best strategies for comfort and safety in the building, as well as energy efficiency.

Food Services
We have over 225 years of combined experience in the nutrition & food service department. The kitchen is open 365 days a year from 6:00 AM until 8:00 PM – we are proud to serve home style, home- cooked meals to acute care patients, long term care residents, Queensway Place residents, and Meals on Wheels as well as cafeteria customers. We prepare and serve an average of 308 meals each day. Nourishing meals are based on CFG. Food Services also provide theme meals and special dinners. A vending machine is also available in a convenient location.

Trends Café (our cafeteria) is open to the public Monday to Friday. All employees working in the department must take a Ministry of Health approved food service worker certificate course (180 hours) at the college level. We are committed to excellence in nutrition & food service and are proud to serve the community of Espanola and surrounding area!
